Zcash (ZEC) API Documentation

Zcash

Zcash (ZEC) is a privacy-focused payments blockchain secured by proof of work, with the NU5 upgrade activated on May 31, 2022 to introduce the Orchard shielded protocol and Unified Addresses. It has no general-purpose smart contract VM; full nodes validate transparent UTXO transactions and shielded proofs while tracking blockchain data, transparent outputs, nullifiers, and shielded commitment state. This mixed transparent-and-shielded model makes blocks and UTXOs familiar to Bitcoin-style integrations while adding privacy-specific pools, notes, and proofs.

Zcash API Methods and Endpoints

NOWNodes exposes Zcash's interface, plus a few others, depending on what your integration needs: JSON-RPC for reading chain state and broadcasting transactions, WSS (WebSocket) for real-time subscriptions and events, and Blockbook for indexed address, balance, transaction, and block lookups. Archive mode extends any of these to historical states and data beyond standard retention.

Browse the interfaces below for endpoint details, request parameters, response formats, and integration examples. Create an API key, select Mainnet or Testnet, choose the required interface, and start sending requests from your application.
