Rootstock

Rootstock (RSK) is an EVM-compatible Bitcoin sidechain secured through merge mining with Bitcoin, allowing Bitcoin miners to participate in Rootstock block production without abandoning Bitcoin mining. Solidity contracts execute on the Rootstock Virtual Machine against Ethereum-style account state, while full nodes maintain balances, contract code, storage, blocks, receipts, and Bitcoin-linked consensus data. Because RVM execution is EVM-compatible, Ethereum tooling, transaction formats, and JSON-RPC conventions carry over while settlement and security remain tied to Bitcoin-specific infrastructure.

Rootstock API Methods and Endpoints

NOWNodes exposes Rootstock's interface, plus a few others, depending on what your integration needs: JSON-RPC for reading chain state and broadcasting transactions, WSS (WebSocket) for real-time subscriptions and events, and Trace/Debug for step-level execution analysis. Archive mode extends any of these to historical states and data beyond standard retention.
